Get Traffic to Your Website from the USA: The Top 10 Tactics

Getting traffic to your website or blog doesn’t have to be hard, especially if you focus on using tried and true strategies that work in any country. If you want to learn how to get traffic from the USA, consider following these 10 simple tactics that are proven winners every time.

1) Switch the Alexa country setting

First, you’ll need to change your Alexa country setting by following these steps. Once that’s done, head over to Google Trends and type in a keyword for your business. This will show you which countries are searching for your product or service most often. Click on Top Searches at the top of the page, then click on Searches Related To [keyword] below it. This will give you an idea of which keywords people are using when they search for products or services like yours.

2) Use photo credits

If you’re going to use a picture that’s not your own, be sure you’ve credited it and know where it came from. If you don’t, you could get in trouble for copyright infringement. A few hours online will show how easy it is to trace photos back to their original creators—and see if they have a website or social media profiles with contact information.

3) Optimize headlines with key search terms

When creating content for a website, it’s essential that you optimize your headlines for search. There are lots of great strategies for doing so, but our top tip is optimizing headlines with key search terms. This can dramatically increase traffic to your site and help boost rankings on Google and other search engines.

4) Optimize images with keyword tags

One of my favorite, but lesser-known tactics is to optimize your images. For example, say you have a page about cute puppies. Instead of just throwing up any image and hoping for traffic, think about which keywords your target audience might use in Google Images when searching for cute puppies. You’d be surprised how many people search that way!

5) Submit to top news sites

When you’re trying to get traffic for your website, there are few surefire methods that always produce results. One of those is submitting your content to news sites that cover similar topics and have a large audience base in America. You can search Google News for specific news topics—or use a tool like EveryJoe, which automatically searches and submits your content to relevant news sites.

6) Write for niche news sites

Targeting niche news sites can be a goldmine for getting targeted traffic. News sites are always looking for new stories, and if you can provide them with unique content, they’ll share it on their social media channels. And by sharing your posts on their Facebook or Twitter accounts, niche news sites will drive traffic directly to your website. Here are ten tactics for driving traffic to your website through these platforms.

7) Exchange links

Linking with US sites can help you capture more traffic. There are many places online where you can exchange links, including websites, blogs, and social media platforms like Facebook. If you want to reach audiences in foreign countries, it's not a bad idea to set up a website or landing page in that country’s language (with an English version for international readers). You can also translate your existing website into other languages by using translation tools such as Google Translate and Yahoo! Babel Fish.

8) Guest blog

One of the fastest ways to grow your site’s traffic is through guest blogging. Guest blogging means that you wri21te articles for other blogs—and then, in turn, those blogs will provide links back to your site.

9) Join local organizations, groups, and meetups (in person!)

There’s nothing quite like meeting people face-to-face to make an impression, develop a relationship, and build trust. If you join local organizations, groups, and meetups that are relevant to your niche or industry, you’ll be able to connect with like-minded individuals online and offline. At these in-person events, make sure you introduce yourself by name and follow up with attendees via email later on (see next point).

10) Have an off-site strategy, too!

One of my favorite ways to get traffic is by writing guest posts for other blogs in my niche. These posts rank really well in Google search, can drive a lot of traffic, and are an excellent way to connect with influencers.
