i recommend at first is to choose a profitable blogging topic that is already proven to be profitable at first as long as you know what you're talking about or you can at least do some research on it i personally like to think that you can monetize most blog topics as long as they aren't super specific some niches are harder to monetize than others so they may require really high page views just to get more ad revenue than anything else i also personally don't recommend a lifestyle blog where you talk about everything under the sun about what you cooked for dinner last night your son's baseball game how to remove laundry stains how to you know budget how to cook all that stuff because that's what i started with and i did not make money for the first little bit because most people didn't enjoy everything that i talked about the reason they usually aren't profitable is because until you build a following and people who genuinely like you for you nobody cares about you mainly they just want to know how you can help them i say there is freedom in niching down because whenever you create your content list you're able to really narrow it down based on topics within your topic i'll explain more about that here in a minute but if you want people to keep coming back to your blog and reading and get to knowing you then you'll need to eventually become an authority in some general topic you don't necessarily need to be an expert but you can just be one step ahead of where your audience is so let me give you an example so we're gonna say sharon just had a baby she's in a transitional period in her life where she's too big for her pre-pregnancy clothes but she's too small for her pregnancy clothes and so she doesn't know how to dress her body in a flattering uncomfortable way because we live in a modern world sharon goes to google to figure out how in the world she's supposed to dress her postpartum bump of course one of the first things she stumbles upon on google is a blog from a mom who talks about exactly how to dress your body postpartum she comes to realize she really really likes how this mom writes she likes her personality her style and so she goes to cruise her blog and see what else she has to offer after cruising around the blog sharon realizes this is an and this was just a one-off blog post that she did about you know dressing her postpartum and sharon doesn't even like arts and crafts sharon is a brand new mom she's emotional she's going through a transitional time in her life she needs that support she needs another mom who's experienced to tell her how to get through this phase of life she's not interested in arts and crafts so she takes her postpartum dressing tips leaves and never returns this is why i say it's important to not you know talk about multiple topics that are not related at all because if you can become the guru or the authority or whatever in your niche then people will come to you and all of your content will relate to them if she had run a mommy blog that talks about all things mommy then you know sharon would have happily read probably all of her other blog posts because they all related to what she was going through and that my friends is how you can create a blogging business that not only makes money but it lasts and that's creating your own community so let's talk about building your blog authority you can do this .
